Something You Should Know This Week
LinkedIn News: Jobs on the Rise 2024

This week, LinkedIn released a new study naming the 25 fastest-growing roles in the U.S. according to internal company data.

What were they?!
The role of a “Chief Growth Officer” took the #1 spot, followed by “Government Program Analyst,” “Environment Health Safety Manager,” “Director of Revenue Operations,” “Sustainability Analyst,” “Advanced Practice Provider,” “Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion,” “Artificial Intelligence Consultant,” “Recruiter” (!!!!!!!!!!), and “Artificial Intelligence Engineer,” to round out the top 10. Look at that #9 ranking, recruiters — you made it!

Let’s dive into the recruiter profile …
The data from LinkedIn noted “especially high growth” in recruiter roles specializing in sales, legal, and healthcare. It found most talent acquisition roles were located in Dallas, New York City, and Los Angeles, with a gender distribution of 54% female and 46% male. In addition, the study found 31% of recruiters work remote, and 24% work hybrid.

How are things trending?
Interestingly, more than two-thirds of the roles of this year’s list didn’t even exist 20 years ago, the data shows, including seven of the top 10 titles listed above. The #7 ranked role of VP of Diversity and Inclusion had a notable drop from 2023 data, when it held the #3 spot. This wasn’t much of surprise, however, following an earlier report from LinkedIn showing a decline in the role of Chief Diversity Officers.

Looking ahead … to 2030.
In a blog post from August 2023, LinkedIn CEO Ryan Roslansky wrote about how roles at work—and thus, job titles—are changing on us faster than we think. “The average LinkedIn member [has seen] skills needed for their job change by 25% over the past eight years,” he said. “By our latest estimates, that number is expected to reach at least 65% by 2030.”
