HR Happy Hour – Episode 83 – ‘Leadership in the Social Age’

Thursday January 20, 2011 – 8PM ET

Social Networking and Social Media are changing, influencing, and at times making traditional approaches to management and leadership seem somewhat dated, and perhaps ineffective.

Leadership and Leadership Development in particular face new opportunities and difficult conundrums driven by the rapid growth of social media, and for more traditional leaders, particularly when faced with the changes in expectations these challenges are more pressing and acute.

This week on the show we will be joined by Kevin Eikenberry, leadership expert and author to talk about leadership in the social age.

What new challenges does social present for leaders? What if the leader is not naturally ‘social’? Are the expectations of employees, customers, and the public for more openness and transparency forcing many leaders out of their comfort zones?

Finally, we will also look at how current and aspiring leaders can further their own development by leveraging resources and approaches in the social space, as well as how HR professionals can incorporate social aspects into current leadership development initiatives.

I hope you can join us for the show!
